gregers Posted February 5, 2011 Report Posted February 5, 2011 hi and welcome to the forum, i think you will have to go hunting, within the car check under your passenger seat for your very own swiming pool,if so there is a pipe running to the back of the car(rear washer)that has probably come apart?your version still might have the ecu/alarm/central locking box there?if so have a search on the forum for this problem, been reported numerous times, iirc you might be luckey in taking it out and drying it? check the wires in all doors, including the rear hatch again. do your brake lights work?you will be amazed on the things that dont work if you require a new brake switch? take a look in the faqs in the technical section of the forum, lots of info posted there. sparky Paul Posted February 6, 2011 Report Posted February 6, 2011 check under your passenger seat for your very own swiming pool,if so there is a pipe running to the back of the car(rear washer)that has probably come apart?your version still might have the ecu/alarm/central locking box there?IIRC, the central locking module under the passenger seat was done away with from late '98 onwards models, so op shouldn't have that problem. As gregers said above, double check the tailgate wiring, you may have missed some wires that are broken internally - give them all a pull to check. Assuming the tailgate wiring is all correct, next favourite to look at has to be the wiring to the doors - particularly driver's door. Quote

Mirez Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 hi thanks for all your suggestions i checked wiring again and all fine, ive got booked in at fords tomorrow for a dianosis check at 90 pounds (what a expense) have been reading on forum and seems maybe looking at relays problem please help I would suggest you look for a blown fuse and also then remove and check the wiring in the drivers door - you probably have one or more broken wires in there but the short circuit in the tailgate wiring allowed the circuit to complete. Now you've repaired that its not working. Personally I would cancel the diagnostic with Ford, in my experience they won't tell you what the wiring issue is just on the initial instpection but simply tell you you have a general wiring fault which will require more extensive diagnostics.
